DESCRIPTION:In continuing the celebration of the 250 years of the United States of America and in honor of the original public proclamation of The Declaration of Independence\, a reading of this document will occur at 5pm CDT on July 8th on the West steps of the Brookings County Courthouse. \n\nThe Declaration of Independence was first publicly read on July 8th\, 1776 to the people of Philadelphia. To honor this event\, organizations across the country will join in a simultaneous reading of this famous document.\n\nBrookings American Legion Post 74 will be hosting this reading. Please arrive prior to 5pm on July 8th as we will begin on the hour. We look forward to seeing you there.
