Chamber of Commerce to Host Veterans Day Program, Seeking Award Nominations

Brookings Chamber’s Military Affairs Committee Invites Community to Honor Veterans and Recognize Outstanding Service

The Brookings Area Chamber of Commerce Military Affairs Committee is proud to host the community’s annual Veterans Day Program on November 11, 2024 at 9:00AM at the Dacotah Bank Center. All are welcome to attend this free event to honor our veterans. Master of Ceremonies Scott Kwasniewski will lead a program including the Brookings High School Orchestra, a welcome by the Mayor, Veterans Address by Lieutenant Colonel John Peary, and awards by Military Affairs Committee Chairman and SFC Retired Russel Chavez.

“I’m proud to lead a committee that gets to do great work like this all year round,” says Russel Chavez, Chair of the committee. “We are appreciative to the Chamber of Commerce for taking this program over back in 2019 and to all committee members who contribute to make the program as special as it is.”

The Military Affairs Committee is seeking nominations for four awards which will be presented as follows:

  • Officer of the Year
  • Non-Commissioned Officer of the Year
  • Soldier of the Year
  • Civilian of the Year


Nominations can be found by going to www.brookingschamber.org or by stopping at the Chamber of Commerce office at 1321 6th Street. Nominations are due by October 23, 2024.
