Hosted by American Legion Post 114 – Volga, South Dakota 

The community is invited to participate in the upcoming 2.2 Heroes Suicide Awareness Walk, an event dedicated to raising awareness of veteran suicide and supporting organizations that provide critical assistance to veterans and first responders.

 Purpose of the Event 

The number 2.2 represents the average number of veterans lost to suicide each day. This event serves as a reminder of the ongoing mental‑health crisis affecting those who have served our nation. The walk encourages community involvement, education, and support for prevention efforts.

Benefiting Organizations 

All proceeds from this event will be donated directly to three South Dakota‑based organizations that provide vital support services to veterans and first responders:

SD Service Dogs – Training and providing service dogs to veterans in need 

Wings of Valor – Offering hunting retreats and outdoor healing experiences 

Warriors Never Give Up – Delivering outdoor adventures and peer‑support opportunities for veterans facing PTSD and trauma 

These organizations make a measurable impact in the lives of those who have served, and community participation strengthens their ability to continue that mission.
